Invisalign is a removable and almost invisible alternative to braces. Using modern 3-D imaging technology, we create a series of clear, plastic aligners just for you designed according to Dr. Jones’ or Dr. DeShon’s treatment plan. You switch out the aligners every two weeks and wear them every day over the full course of treatment. Gradually, the aligners straighten and adjust spacing between teeth. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we hear about Invisalign.

How does Invisalign work?

The treatment program starts with a complimentary consultation. After an oral examination and impressionless, radiation-free scan, we will use 3D imaging to generate a series of custom aligners that will gradually adjust the position of your teeth.

The aligners are made of clear, BPA-free plastic. Each set is designed to be worn for 10 to 14 days before being replaced with the next set in a prescribed series. Aligners must be worn every day for at least 20 to 22 hours to achieve the desired results within the estimated timeframe.

Remove the appliances for eating and drinking beverages other than water. You may need to clean teeth and aligners several times a day to prevent staining and maintain the transparent, nearly invisible appearance of the aligners.

How long does treatment usually take?

The length of any treatment program depends on the complexity of alignment or bite issues and your compliance with our treatment instructions. We’ll discuss your particular timeline during your first appointment, but most courses of Invisalign treatment range from six to 24 months, with the average duration of treatment being about 12 months. You will need to schedule regular office visits every eight to 10 weeks during this time so we can monitor your progress.

You may use up to 40 sets of aligners. Each set will be worn for approximately one to two weeks before being replaced with the next set in the series. Refinement aligners or retainers may be used at the conclusion of treatment to finalize the look of your smile and prevent teeth from shifting out of their new positions.

How much does Invisalign cost?

The cost of any treatment method will depend on the orthodontic issues that need to be addressed. Dental insurance and options for applying FSA or HSA funds may offset the cost. Flexible payment plans are also available. We will provide an estimate and discuss payment options during the complimentary consultation.

Is Invisalign right for me?

Invisalign treatment is suitable for patients age 12 or older, depending on alignment and bite issues. Invisalign treatment is most effective for crooked teeth and crowding. Major orthodontic problems such as malocclusion may require braces. The very best way to find out whether Invisalign is right for you is to schedule a consultation.
